1st week-Goa

Goa is situated on the west coast (Arabian Sea) and was the former Portuguese colony in India. It has been and still remains one of India’s most popular travel destinations, noted for its remarkable, palm-fringed beaches and laid-back lifestyle.

The Camp:

The project is to work in schools and orphanages to give a safe, cleaner, creative and environmental friendly atmosphere to the children, active participation in festivals and infuse creativity into the management.

  • Health & hygiene awareness
  • Wall painting
  • Carnival celebration participation – set up and manage food stalls along with local families

Leisure Activities:

  • Visit cultural and religious sites
  • Indian family visit
  • Intercultural exchange with community

Location:

Canacona, a sea side village in Goa, 650 km south of Mumbai

Transport:

2nd week – Kundapur:

Kundapur is a town situated near the beach on the west coast of Karnataka state, and is very close to the Western Ghats (a mountain range). The Western Ghats is India’s prime zone for bio-diversity and known for its animal and plant species. FSL-India has been involved in developing projects for many years in this region and has now formed a very strong network of local partners and local volunteers. FSL-India initiates development interventions in partnership with the local NGOs and civil society organisations in this area.

The Camp:

The focus of the camp is to provide field based, learning knowledge on sustainable agriculture and introduce creative learning methods in schools. FSL-India will directly implement these methods with the network of farmers’ club, women’s groups and school management of 20 satellite villages in and around FSL-India’s Centre for Experiential Living.

  • Teach basic English to children
  • Introduce creative learning methods through play, art and music
  • Wall painting, tree plantation, making a kitchen garden, minor repair work of school toilets and kitchen
  • Awareness on health, education and hygiene, interaction with orphan children
  • Exposure visits, city walks and cultural exchange programs with the local community

Location:Kundapur is located 440 kms north-west of Bangalore, near the Arabian sea and 91 kms north of Mangalore
